Reflection after the end of the orientation week 4th-8th January 2010

It was a week worth remembering, the first week in SST. I met people from all walks of life and they all turned out to be fine friends. Though we may come from different backgrounds, we can all work together and be an effective team! It is important to have friends behind you knowing that they will always be there to help you out. I hope that the class will not only act like this in the orientation week, but also in the next four years in SST.

Camp reflection-7th-8th January 2010

The two days away from home and staying in camp were enjoyable and of course.... very itchy and muddy! Despite the foreign environment, I was able to enjoy myself and gain new experiences! It was truly ' building bridges beyond boundaries'. All the activities were fun and I, as well as my friends, learnt how to work as a team.

Personal Reflection of 6th January 2010

Today, we went around Clementi neighborhood. We explored it an learnt new things! I found that we can learn things even outside of school. I guess that is the meaning of “Expanding Our Learning Networks” which is one of the school values.

I find that it is very important as we get to communicate with others outside the school and learn out of the textbook.

Personal Reflection of 5th January 2010

The school value “Forging Excellence” is for us to strive to be the best as can be and always go beyond our limits. We can never give up trying. As the orientation theme goes, “building bridges beyond boundaries”.

I’ve learnt to persevere even though things may seem bad. We have to keep trying to pull through. I also have a lot of friends who can help me out.

We have to be open-minded and be able to accept mistakes and learn from them. We must also cultivate self-initiative and have empowerment. We must also try to think out of the box. We must go beyond our comfort zone.

We can all post problems, share opinions on the class blog for everyone in class to see.

Personal Reflection 4th January 2010

Today’s experience of meeting new friends was rather an enjoyable one. I met different people with different ideas. Having said that, it can be quite difficult to work with new people. Many want to use their own ideas. That is why we have to be open-minded and try to meet a common ground.

In terms of shyness, I would say that I am a very sociable person. So, it does not bother me much.

As an “Architect”, I contributed some ideas on making the bridge as good-looking and safe and functional as possible.

It is very important to participate as it helps one make new friends and also know new ideas so that one can apply them in life. It also strengthens friendship and teamwork.

I have learnt a lot from today’s activity. It is better to have friends who can help you rather than to do things alone. Two heads are better than one!
